" I was born in London in 1963 and I am a self-taught artist. After years of working in the computer industry, I left a fairly lucrative line of work to pursue a career as a freelance illustrator/artist. Five years on, having built a reputation in mainly pagan/new-age circles I am now branching out into more mainstream fantasy via my agent, Duirwaigh Gallery and my own efforts of course!
A lot of my art is based around my spirituality as well as the landscape I see both around me and within me. My subjects are the nature-spirits and elementals, although sometimes my paintings are representations of goddesses and gods, or what I would term 'romantic fantasy'. As for my style, I think it would be obvious to most that I am strongly influenced by the likes of Brian Froud, Arthur Rackham, Alan Lee, and the Pre-Raphaelites, although the list of artists I admire could go on and on. For those that like to know such things, I work mainly in gouache or acrylics, but use watercolour pencils & pastels to obtain certain effects, and to experiment. I paint on line and wash board or primed hard-board.
For more insights into how and why I do what I do, see the interview I did with PaperSnarl (the e-zine of the fantasy art publishers Paper Tiger) I've reproduced the interview here from issue #19 of PaperSnarl.
I currently live in the beautiful and mystical landscape of Devon in the south-west of England with my daughter Carys Freya and my dog (a slightly mad Whippet)
